when researching for socks, an important thing to balance is price vs. benefits. Well not just for socks, but also all the equipment, because the cost quickly adds up. if you're dealing with harsh weather conditions, its better to pay more for durable supplies then to regret it later. since i personally am doing this in the spring, i would aim for "smart wool" socks for example. they are soft and strong, which prevents feed from quickly getting wet. Yet this can be expensive, so if you can't get smart wool, normal soft wool will be the next option.
